On September 15 and 16 of this year the Camden County Museum and the 4th Missouri Cavalry Re-Enactors will co-host a Maximum Effort Re-enactment of the Battle at Monday’s Hollow (the only Civil War battle fought in Camden County). The event will take place on the Missouri Trapshooter Association grounds on A Road in Linn Creek.
In civil war times, villages and towns gave financial “bounties” to their militias, usually in the form of salt peter and shot for ammunition. We are hoping that your business and others in the area will put up this bounty to help one of the participating cavalry, artillery or infantry units. Your donation of $10.00, together with bounties from other businesses, will be recognized by public notices at the event showing the businesses that sponsor each unit.
Maximum Effort Re-enactments will usually bring in 500-600 re-enactors from Missouri and surrounding states, and we are expecting thousands of spectators. We are seeking modest financial support from area businesses to help defray the expenses of the Re-enactors.
Re-enactors donate their travel expenses and their time in order to bring to the public authentic re-enactments of Civil War battles. One expense they need help with is the cost of ammunition.
If you agree to put up a bounty, we will place it in a special account.
Your $10.00 bounty will give you notice at the site of the event as a sponsor of a particular military unit, a very special poster (delivered in May-June) stating that this business is a proud sponsor of this event, and your business publicly thanked in a full page ad the day following the event.
We are a non-for-profit and not tax supported.Your help would be greatly appreciated. Please contact me at 573-692-3350 with any questions or the museum any Monday between the hours of ten and four.
