Local bare knuckle boxing sensation, Sam “The Hillbilly Hammer” Shewmaker wasn’t included on the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championships’ 7 card last Friday night. In BKFC, Shemwaker holds a record of 3-1-1, was the runner up of the heavyweight championship tournament, owns the fastest one-punch knockout in the promotions’ history, and is arguably the fan favorite heaveyweight fighter in all the promotion. Shewmaker’s absence Friday left BKFC fans wondering, “Where’s The Hillbilly Hammer?” The answer is simple; The Hillbilly Hammer has been training for arguably his biggest professional boxing bout of his career, this time with the gloves on.

Shewmaker is set to fight Kenzie Morrison, son of boxing legend and former world heavyweight champion, Tommy “The Duke” Morrison on Friday August 16th in a professional sanctioned boxing event. Shewmaker holds a professional boxing record of (5-0) while Morrison brings an impressive unbeaten record of (15-0-2) in 17 professional fights, including 13 by way of TKO, to the fight.

Shewmaker & Morrison are featured on the card for JGK Entertainment’s “Brawl in The Hall” from Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas. The card also features co-main event “Sugarman” Shane Mosley JR (14-3 / including 9 KO’s), son of another boxing legend “Sugar” Shane Mosley, against rising prospect Calvin Metcalf (9-2-1 / 2 KO’s). The other co-main event features undefeated Featherweight sensation and WBU CAM Champion Fidel Cervantes (7-0-1 / 4 KO’s) battling it out against battle tested veteran, Andre Wilson (15-14-1 / 12 KO’s)

Shewmaker enters the fight at (1-1-1) in his last 3 bare knuckle fights and will put back on his gloves to defend his undefeated pro boxing record. Shewmaker considers this his biggest professional boxing match, but not his biggest combat fight yet. Absent from the last two BKFC cards, Shewmaker should be primed to make a return to the squared circle sooner than later and could be in line for another world heavyweight title shot. Chase Sherman, whom Shewmaker had a draw against at BKFC 5, just beat Arnold “AJ” Adams Friday night for the BKFC World Heavyweight Championship. Not only did Shewmaker draw against Sherman, a fight in which many boxing fans disagreed with the outcome of, but Shewmaker also took Adams the distance and earned a split decision in a losing effort earlier in 2019 during his first shot at the title. This too was a fight that many boxing fans felt like was misjudged by the Mississippi judging panel in Biloxi. Anyway you shake it, Shemwaker has proven he can go toe to toe with either of BKFC’s heavyweight champions so far and deserves another shot at the belt.
